I don't know about you, but  American pop-punk Yellowcard - Ryan Key (vocals/guitar), Sean Mackin (violin), Longineu (“LP”) Parsons (drums), Ryan Mendez (guitar) and Josh Portman (bass) - were a huge part of my music collection when I was a teenager;  So, it's great news to hear their 2003 single ‘Ocean Avenue’ has been certified platinum (that's one million copies sold) in the US this year.
In honour of this, Yellowcard have released an acoustic version of the song in video form with cool footage of fans singing along from all over the world.
They’ve also released a video that looks back at the album of the same name ahead of the release of  an acoustic version of 'Ocean Avenue', which will be released through Hopeless Records on 12th August, and consist of a  re-imagining of all 13 songs from that album in an acoustic format.

Then, the band will be touring throughout the US, Europe & Australia performing the entire album acoustically, and closing the show with an electric set that features tracks from their other albums.
Yellowcard -  'Ocean Avenue Acoustic' will be released via Hopeless Records on August 12, 2013.

Video Review: The Traps - 'The Honey Drip'

Birmingham/London four-piece The Traps (Jamie Berry - vocals, guitar, his brother Nick Berry - bass, vocals, James Minhas - guitar and Daniel Webb - drums) are doing something pretty cool right now: they're stepping apart from 'commercial' British indie and taking us to a purer, non -overly accented, 'mockney' style that we seem to hear in leaps and bounds these days
To accompany their latest single 'The Honey Drip' is their official video produced by Genevieve Landry of Eva Productions which is hot, fiery, passionate and retro which fits the seductiveness of the song perfectly. It features a woman dribbled in honey, smouldering close ups of beautiful girls (especially their eyes), moody indie shots of the guys playing their instruments, silhouettes, fiery oranges and reds, psychedelic kaleidoscopes of changing backgrounds and super cool and informative lyric breaks! All in all, it's complex and clever, as well as super sexy and you can check it out below.

Video Review: Shan -'Stay'

There's a bit of a mystery about the correct genre to put London based singer- songwriter Shan in. Is his music Alternative Folk? Modern Soul? Post Rock? Quite frankly, we don't know -and we kinda like the unpredictability and the fact that we struggle to mould him. Stylistically, Shan seems to be covering a lot of genres and is clearly influenced by many different things. His current single 'Stay' is a chilled out, funky, soulful track where Shan's vocals sound deepend and slightly muffled by auto-tune - reminiscent of atmospheric post rock. The accompanying video to the track (directed by Liam Southall) is simple, efficient, and set in greyscale, simply documenting Shan as he leaves the house wanders streets, passes lakes, goes through tunnels and then starts to fade out with a duplicate shadow of himself running in a different direction to his bodied form. The video ends with a shot of closing doors and a lift going upwards which could possibly serve as an antithesis to the fact that by the end of the song - Shan still has no closure from whoever he's asking to stay in his lyrics. Deep!

Video Review: Mr 1-2-3-4 - 'Vermilion Sands'

Kraut rock Brooklyn artist Mr 1-2-3-4 describes his new single 'Vermillion Sands', as taking it's inspiration "from J.G. Ballard's 1971 collection of short stories, set in a futuristic resort town where the jaded denizens relieve their boredom by playing baroque and cruel games. The track starts off as swinging, Surrealist jazz, then turns on the motorik engine and heads for outer space". and to be fair you don't hear anything like that very often do you?!

If possible, the concept of the song has taken an even more obscure turn now that the mysterious Mr 1-2-3-4 has now finished the animated music video for it. It's pretty much a surreal futuristic adult cartoon that begins with an introduction to "America's sweetheart" Cookie Caboose and her pal Busby Bulldog! There's a bikini clad brunette bowing down to a 'staff of power', a bulldog painting a picture of a bronze lady wearing a wreath of flowers around her neck just about covering her nipples on ample bossoms! The dog (Busby)hitting on a woman via computer video, who then invites him and Cookie Caboose to a  Mr 1-2-3-4 gig, mummies, aliens,  a scared cratered planet and some other completely bizarre factors!

Conclusion: Mr 1-2-3-4  could we please live inside your head for a day? Krau-some!

Skills to do a charity DJ set for The Secret Garden Party

Of all the things to look forward to at The Secret Garden Party this year (25th -28th July), we are chuffed to hear that  UK electronic/synth pop duo Stills will be playing a DJ set via XFM's Eddy Temple Morris for the Calm Zone.
Not only is this great news for electronica fans - it's an amazing cause as the Calm Zone is a charity that works specifically to prevent suicide in males in the UK.
Awesome music, awesome cause - awesome band. Check em out below, there's a free download in the mix!

Video Review: Jingo - 'Same Without You'

London based Jingo (consisting of Jack Buckett, his wife Katie, Joseph Reeves and latest edition Sahil Batra) are a four-piece making eclectic pop rock music. Taking an alternative route these guys released two debut singles earlier on in the year - one of which was the powerfully angst and challenging track 'Same Without You' which has a bizarre but completely captivating animated video that accompanies the resonating, smouldering vocals courtesy of Katie, the eerie and the elegant yet fierce classical tones to the bass and guitar lines. The master behind the peculiar video animation is Jake Strunk - I'm not quite sure what was happening but it made me feel a little bit uneasy, a little bit sad, and a little bit hopeful all in equal measure! Check it out below.

Also get yourselves over to Jingo's Soundcloud to hear a couple more of their tracks-
And their Facebook page to keep an eye out for what these guys are up to!

Band To Check Out: Radkey

Missouri punk rockers  Radkey are comprised of three brothers; Dee Radke - (Guiar/Vocals), Isaiah Radke - (Bass/Vocals) and Solomon Radke (Drums) and are a force to be reckoned with. They also fall outside of the norm of what you'd expect from a fast paced punk band in the form of  unexpectededly smooth baritone vocals from Dee.

This summer Radkey played successful UK shows at both Download Festival and a packed out show at the Barfly in London. They've received support from the likes of BBC's Zane Lowe, The Guardian, NME and many more. Tipped as ones to watch in 2013, Radkey have unveiled a new video for 'Out Here In My Head' ahead of their  limited edition debut 12" EP 'Cat & Mouse' due for  release on July 15th.

Limited to only 300 copies on 12" collectable vinyl grab yourself a copy here if you're quick.
