Video Review: Mr 1-2-3-4 - 'Vermilion Sands'

Kraut rock Brooklyn artist Mr 1-2-3-4 describes his new single 'Vermillion Sands', as taking it's inspiration "from J.G. Ballard's 1971 collection of short stories, set in a futuristic resort town where the jaded denizens relieve their boredom by playing baroque and cruel games. The track starts off as swinging, Surrealist jazz, then turns on the motorik engine and heads for outer space". and to be fair you don't hear anything like that very often do you?!

If possible, the concept of the song has taken an even more obscure turn now that the mysterious Mr 1-2-3-4 has now finished the animated music video for it. It's pretty much a surreal futuristic adult cartoon that begins with an introduction to "America's sweetheart" Cookie Caboose and her pal Busby Bulldog! There's a bikini clad brunette bowing down to a 'staff of power', a bulldog painting a picture of a bronze lady wearing a wreath of flowers around her neck just about covering her nipples on ample bossoms! The dog (Busby)hitting on a woman via computer video, who then invites him and Cookie Caboose to a  Mr 1-2-3-4 gig, mummies, aliens,  a scared cratered planet and some other completely bizarre factors!

Conclusion: Mr 1-2-3-4  could we please live inside your head for a day? Krau-some!
